While many people think that the secrets to great skin are always found in the beauty counter, you may find a few helpful options no further than your kitchen counter. With that in mind, here are a few home remedies for beauty and skin concerns to try.

#1 Honey
Raw honey is chock-full of nutrients, antioxidants and other beneficial substances, explain the scientists from the research team of Adore Cosmetics, which specializes in creating organically innovative skin care products based on natural elements. You want to look for the raw kind of honey that hasn’t been pasteurized or heat-treated so you can get the full benefits of the phytonutrients. You can spread a teaspoon on your face, wait 15 minutes and then rinse to use it a DIY moisturizing mask. If you want to get at the gunk in your pores, you could mix 2 tablespoons of raw honey with 2 tablespoons of jojoba or coconut oil. Then you apply the blend to your face, but be sure to steer clear of the eye area.

#2 Baking Soda
You probably already have a box in the fridge to keep it smelling fresh, but you can also blend 1 tablespoon with 5 drops of hydrogen peroxide to make a paste. Once a week, you can brush your teeth with this mixture, let it sit for five minutes and then brush with regular toothpaste. The goal here is a brighter, whiter smile. You also can add a bit of baking soda to water to try as a quick spot treatment for pimples that pop up so as to dry them out.

#3 Tomato
To shrink down big pores, take half of a seeded tomato and 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt. Puree the tomato thoroughly, then add the yogurt and blend well. Add the mix to your skin and leave on between 5 and 10 minutes. After you rinse off this DIY mask gently, moisturize your skin.
